Docking Station - The Arrival

Creatures and Docking Station are a series of games that I was absolutely obsessed with when I was a kid and young teen. It's about artificial life (the simulated lifeforms are called "norns", they're kinda like cute fluffy aliens), and while the story was never really a focus of the games, I found them quite interesting and appealing. I even used to write fanfiction for this game, which is... kind of embarrassing in retrospect.

Anyway, this comic is my personal interpretation of the final scene from the official Docking Station story, which was written by Ashley Harman and Mark Ashton.
Here's a quick summary of the whole story:
The Lone Shee (tall blue guy) is accidently left behind by the other Shee as they leave their old planet to find a new home, using a spaceship called "Shee Ark". And since the Lone Shee doesn't want to spend the rest of his life on the old planet with nothing but norns for company, he builds his own little spaceship (the Capillata) and follows them. He has lots of great adventures on his journey, invents some cool gadgets and stuff, and then finally catches up with the Shee Ark as it orbits the Shee's new home, a planet called Sphericus. But as he contacts the Shee Ark to ask for docking permission, he is greeted not by a fellow Shee, but a Banshee. The Banshee are like the bad guys in the Creatures universe, they're a small group that separated from Shee society, altered their own genetic code and started being extremely hostile towards normal Shee long ago. And apparantly they've taken over the Ark now - and possibly Sphericus too.
And that's how the story ends. Biggest cliffhanger ever!!



Anyway. Creating this comic was just a huge trip down the memory lane for me, and it felt to *good*. The Creatures community was basically the first internet fandom I ever participated in, and I'm so grateful that I could just... contribute something to such a beautiful event like the CCSF after all these years, even if it was just a little piece of art. I was finally skilled enough to *give something back* to all of these amazing people who were so kind and helpful.
